The Dandy Comic, which features the popular characters Desperate Dan and Korky the Kat – undergoes its final [paper] print this week, ending a run of 75 years. The very first edition was published on 4 December 1937.

With the world going online, sales of the comic have dwindled in recent years down to sales of 8,000 from 2 million in the 1950′s.

Loyal Dandy readers need not despair though, publisher DC Thomson have launched the comic online, with a Smartphone app.

Paul ‘I am the Beatles’ McCartney has even got in on the act, getting his face next to Desperate Dan which was something of a childhood wish for the Ole Beatles big head!
