Last nights opening episode of Dr Who was the darkest yet. Stephen Moffat is taking Who in a more adult direction and this was typified by the villians, the creepy “The Silents”. A threat you can only perceive when you see them. The minute you take your eyes off them, you forget they are there.

The Doctor ran into his own difficulties with a spaceman in the middle of the desert.

The story skipped along quite nicely introducing a load of random events and characters to be resolved in the second part. Who is Riversong? Who did she kill?

All in all an interesting opener to the new season.
