Elisabeth Sladen who played one of the most well known Dr Who assistants has died age 63 after a long battle with cancer.

Sladen played Sarah Jane Smith who partnered “my” childhood Doctor Tom Baker will be remembered in more recent times as reprising her role in recent Dr Who and the spin off Sarah Jane Adventures.

I can remember vividly as she was chased across an alien rock world by a monster in the 3rd Doctors adventure “Death To the Daleks” one of my first childhood memories.
